The Championships
at Lake St. Louis
The 2007 Mixed Doubles A-Flight tournament was held after the traditional fried chicken potluck dinner sponsored by Pat & Ken Hacker. Julie Gordon & Curt Juergens defeated Chris & Rodger Hollenbeck in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 (7-5). With the Hollenbeck's up 5-3 in the second set, it appeared that the match was headed toward a third set. Julie and Curt, however, came back to send the match into a tie-breaker, squeaking out the win at 7-5.
Cathy Thurwachter and Eric Livingston won the B-Flight in straight sets on Saturday, 6-1, 6-4 over Elly & Frans Liebert.
Pat Stover, wife of the late Jay Stover, active member and 1st President of the Tennis Association, provided a generous donation to the Tennis Association and presented the winners with their prizes.
